Has the macaron replaced the cupcake? Here, in the midwest, we're not seeing all that many macarons yet. But, New York celebrated the magical macaron with the second annual Macaron Day (read: free macarons!) last Sunday, March 20th. The day coincides with the annual Jour du Macaron in Paris, where the macaron craze really started.
Remember all the fabulous pastries in Marie Antionette?
They were supplied by Parisian pâtissier Ladurée.
Apparently, "the best macarons in the world" come from there.
Wouldn't you just love to find out for yourself? Alas, you'll have to take a trip to Paris - if they lose their freshness, they lose the love.
